Well lets get to it why I think the story is good.
The pacing is still roughly the same (mostly combat and exploration with only minor worldbuilding details and sidequests for story until the 15 hour mark), however everything there was to like about the first game is moderately meatier, and the moment to moment combat gameplay that forms the bulk is improved.
I fell in love with Toro's art style almost immediately when I started BS1 but its here in BSII where his style takes a huge step in evolution.
