Kingpin — Life of Crime

It has an overarching theme that is full of style and backed up by a ghetto tale told through cutscenes, offers a highly visceral yet never offending combat experience on top and builds up on an already solid engine without introducing any bugs or breaking it.

Don't expect to hear much Cypress Hill except for like 4 different 5 second loops, but the gameplay is solid and challenging, the story is... there, nice levels to explore with a few secrets sprinkled around and most amazingly you can have NPC followers that can actually keep up and not be useless or annoying!

These guys can carry anything from pipes to machine guns later on and it feels pretty damn good, and I valued currency alone just to get these guys and some good weapon mods, which luckily you can get money through looting dead bodies in case you’re in need of some extra dough.

The sound design is also of high standard; from the footstep sounds to the voiceovers of the NPCs, everything fits perfectly to the fictional world the developers try to portray.

Never thought it'd get a Steam release, or that there'd be active multiplayer servers as I turned 40.

With a plethora of custom maps, skins, textures, and extensive mods (both multiplayer modes and singleplayer missions), the community keeps a 1999 game quite alive.
