Maybe you guys are just going for an arcade feel, if so, I would make the graphics more arcade-like, which would also make the game actually run smoothly on my computer.
Like most games in alpha this game has its fair share of bugs - boats or planes easily get stuck and cannot be removed (time consuming to replace), characters glitch and can become invisible while their physical character sits idle somewhere else on the map.
