Gameplay is fun, although I feel the 20 minute mission setup this game goes for is sort of restrictive.
Game also features a rather good Jungle DnB soundtrack.
The meta progression for unlocking new upgraded stats, weapons, gems feels great due to the UI visuals that pop up after a run when you have unlocked something.
I suggest you play the game blind, either way, but take the time to read character descriptions and the in-game player's guide (which acts as a summary for all but the enemies in-game), so you know what stats complement what characters best.
The PS1 style is written all over this game from the main menu, intentionally rough polygons, and the BEAUTIFUL map design.
This is definitely a game I see myself coming back to over and over to unwind with, especially since it works great on my Steam Deck.
