There are well-timed musical stingers, a phenomenal metal soundtrack which serves to highlight transitions into boss fights and several other key areas and persists through those fights.

The melee stun weapon I think is also a nice addition to the player's arsenal since it helps in a pinch if you're low on ammunition.

I personally am of the mind that this small team was able to put out a fun working game that is not riddled with bugs, runs extremely well, and has an interesting setting and story - which is more than enough and more than what can be said of many games I've played in recent years.
