Morever, every biome has its own unique mechanics, and this dev really knows how to introduce progressively harder platforming challenges through the level design, without a single tutorial in sight.
The difficulty is tough, but it's not "cheap"; every boss has a pattern you have to learn and as you get more skills things get a little more forgiving (but that doesn't make the game a cakewalk).
The writing is simple but fun with a lot of likeable characters and silly, family friendly humour.
All of that, wrapped in a GREAT dark fairytale art style with some of the gnarliest (complimentary) boss designs I've ever seen.
Along the way you will pick up a weapon, skills to navigate puzzles and hazards and encounter some very fluid combat.
It's a Kyle Thompson game, which means a solid soundtrack courtesy of his brother.
