Marvel's Midnight Suns

The core gameplay: the deck builder and tactical battles (no cover, but position matters for knockback and area effects) is pretty good.

While exploring the environment eventually got tedious, it was a very interesting location and had some neat, story-relevant lore.

Superhero Social Simulator should have been the name of the game, because Marvel Care Bears" or "Marvel Friendship is Magic" might've been too on the nose :P The combat is smooth, but the beautiful and cozy Abbey is unfortunately riddled with bugs, from crashes and freezes to graphics glitches.

You are provided good incentive to bring each character on missions and to curate their decks (and some characters are mandatory on given missions, so you ignore them at your own peril) However, this large roster does get burdensome at the end.

And their effort is a fun title without the punishing difficulty and RNG unpredictability but with a stronger emphasis on character interaction and time you spend together with your squad mates.

The lighting is about average for modern games (so pretty good) but shadowplay is constructed weirdly, making it hard to see some stuff unless you turn the gamma right up.
