Songbringer

Songbringer is a lovely and lively, addictive and terrific, pixelated action RPG with procedurally generated open world maps, permadeath option, and permanent customization per game depending on player preferences.

I think you should experiment and try out the different options, not only do they change the way you play, they also alter the visuals in the game.

The story and setting is engaging, weird sci-fi, 70-80's french comics, but tries a bit hard to come off as mysterious, the poetical lore-bits fall kind of flat.

Songbringer features fluid and diverse combat, wonderful pixel-art and a killer soundtrack, all tied together in a procedurally generated world for the player to explore (and re-explore).

Playing both with a controller (Xbox 360 in my experience) and keyboard are comfortable and viable, and all controls are quickly and easily changed through an emulator-style interface.
