April Grove is a 2D RPG with the focus on exploration, quest completion, leveling up, and upgrading your axes.
It places the player in the role of a quiet forester living beside a small woodland town, where the primary activity—chopping trees and managing resources—becomes the foundation for a slow, meditative gameplay loop.
This visual approach pairs exceptionally well with the game’s soundtrack, which features soft, looping melodies that reinforce a calm, almost pastoral mood.
Which is a shame because the art style and characters are so charming.
Just for note, I played this game 50/50 on my PC to Steamdeck.
