Story and characters
Players who bring up Story and characters mostly praise it.
The last 5% of the game consists of dialogue/backstory, which is admittedly interesting- however not enough to make me want to suffer through the absolutely horrid gameplay.

Combat
Players who bring up Combat mostly praise it.
The combat system is interesting and difficult to master, and it's INCREDIBLY satisfying to have a dreadnought that can just blast anything out of the sky whenever you please.

Audio
Players who bring up Audio mostly praise it.
There is an Ur-Quan Masters HD Project available for free that is the polished version with voice acting that people remember and would be actually looking for.

Graphics
Players who bring up Graphics mostly praise it.
I enjoy DOS games so the graphics / controls is not an issue for me.

Controls
Players who bring up Controls mostly praise it.
Best played with a controller, trying to pilot the ships with keyboard controls is do-able, but you don't get the same precision control.

Multiplayer
Players who bring up Multiplayer mostly praise it.
variant with optional turn-based element (even though the original SC did have AI opponent, it was something designed for hotseat multiplayer) ended up giving a new life to an RPG genre that was slowly declining day by day?
