The Dark Rites of Arkham

The game handles its narrative progression extremely well because it begins as a grounded detective mystery before gradually descending into full cosmic horror.

The soundtrack blends noir-inspired melodies with darker ambient horror tracks that reinforce the game’s shifting tone.

Every location contributes to the larger sense of dread, and the game excels at making even ordinary spaces feel threatening through lighting, environmental detail, and pacing alone.

But other than some minor quirks in the dialogue and gameplay, there's really nothing wrong with how Dark Rites of Arkham is put together, and it plays wonderfully, reeling in the player with some brilliant characters, story and an excellent soundtrack.

The puzzles strike an excellent balance in difficulty, never too easy or too hard, making it possible to finish the game without a walkthrough.

Players investigate crime scenes, combine inventory items, decipher clues, and gather information through dialogue in ways that feel logical and rewarding.
