What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
As you get better at the game the visuals get crazier which ramps up the intensity nicely.
TL;DR Thumper is an incredibly elegantly designed rhythm game with a well balanced difficulty curve and exhilarating high speed gameplay.
While I definitely won’t be buying the soundtrack any time soon I think that it perfectly complements the gameplay and visual aesthetic.
You won't meet any boring characters, you won't sit through hours of cutscenes, you don't have to pretend to care about a cliché story.
Definitely would recommend a controller for this though, the keyboard controls never really worked for me.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 3 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
