Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition

I love the STORY, it's absolutely narratively one of the most creative adaptations of Batman.

While nowhere near as intuitive and expressive as the combat of character-action games like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta (largely due to context-sensitivity and long uninterrupted animations taking precedent over player inputs), it's a solid action-RPG combat system, and a good way of immersing you into the role of Batman.

The stealth mechanics are genuinely one of the best in any game and I love the customisation of it, I wished the customisation was more of finding upgrades by activities or exploring the map but the mechanics themselves are brilliant.

I ran everything at max very comfortably and other than early 2000's YouTube cutscenes the visuals are sharp and feel stylised without compromising fidelity.

All in all, great voice acting, though some voice lines from Batman sound too much like cold-readings without any context given to Kevin.The game is short but sweet on a normal playthrough, but going for a 100% completion save file AND all achievements will net you about 40 hours not counting idle time, and considering I got Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy for under £4, that's a bargain.

Satisfying Difficulty: Beating the game on Hard mode felt genuinely rewarding without ever feeling "cheap" or unfair.
