What I really like is how the story actually tries to explain a lot of the map, even the tutorial rooms, the relation to H2 and even why the main character looks like she does.

overall: a solid metroidvania, almost resident evil-ish survival horror game with a lot of platforming and puzzles. backtracking is everywhere, combat is ok, and the ass is still an unavoidable focal point (unless you feel like modding)

Even if you don't like the "gooner" material I still recommend the game for it's unapologetic dedication to old school survival horror and punishing difficulty, along with having sublimely creepy vibes.
