What players think
The recurring themes across 250 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The Flayed Man's brief covers all the ground: solve puzzles to progress the brief and direct story.
The pixelated graphics mixed in with the single frame cutscenes and the grotesque imagery are amazing to me personally, in fact it’s what attracted me to this game to begin with.
The gameplay itself is fine.
You mainly click across the screen to various locations to point the Flayed Man in the right direction and solve puzzles involving dragging pieces of your inventory to certain locations and inventory items in order to create new items for puzzle solutions or for puzzle solutions in general.
There isn’t really much to say here in the actual development of the game in terms of facts, but the developer (Tony) worked with four different artists (Rafael, Lucio, Jocely and Tomas) to bring this game to life from various different inspirations (ones that I’ll go to in the art and sound design).
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No themes split opinion in this sample.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 5 sampled reviews and are not shown.
