Story and characters
Players who bring up Story and characters mostly praise it.
There's just a whole pile of lore, and a lot of interesting cultures and dialogue and stuff to see.

Gameplay
Players who bring up Gameplay mostly praise it.
Caves of Qud has easily become one of my favorite games and I place its complexity and amazing gameplay up there with Zomboid (personally even above it).

The graphics, by the way, are pretty nice.

CoQ plays great on Steam Deck too.

Audio
Players who bring up Audio mostly praise it.
I feel like the music is a little plain, to the point where I generally have it turned down very low, since by default it is at like 100% volume just like the sound effects and it can drown out everything else a bit in some areas, but it does make good wallpaper, and certain areas like the 'salt dunes' have a great soundtrack that really immerses you, so it's kind of inconsistent at best.

Controls
Players who bring up Controls mostly praise it.
I bet you could also play it with a controller and enjoy it that way, but I stuck with the keyboard.
