What players think
The recurring themes across 266 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Certainly an awesome soundtrack for sure.
It delivers an 80s blockbuster action flick story with retro pixel graphics and a delightfully cliché plot that's oozing with cheese.
Since this isn't limited to NES hardware though, the gameplay sections are improved visually from that release, although I'd say it's only as advanced as the next console generation, since the 2D portions aren't as crisp or refined as I think they could be.
Otherwise, they took a really bold direction all on their own, and I'd applaud it, even if I didn't care that much for the art style myself.
While playing with an Xbox 360 controller I had many inputs eaten.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No themes split opinion in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
