Absolutely fantastic Souls-like with combat that feels fresh to the genre, a fantastic art style, and incredibly satisfying bosses.

memoirium goes hard on incorporating its setting/theme into the mechanics, so yr stats are unusual, yr gear slots are unusual, and the way those bits interact can be unusual. there's a lot of novelty here, even in mundane places!

It has an interesting take on Souls-like combat, particularly with its Stress system and deflect mechanic, which at times felt somewhat reminiscent of the blocking and Perfect Guard mechanics in "Lies of P", while still managing to have an identity of its own.

mechanics aside, the visuals are what originally grabbed me. they remind me of early era 3D art, with their interesting materials/texture work and funky use of geometry to create impressionist scenes. it's a very pretty game!
