As the Last Adult Alive at the ripe age of 17, the Player Character functions as the narrative lynchpin of this thematic throughline, the game is as much an exercise in changing the past as it is in cultivating loyalty among your small group of followers, and thus, by incident or purpose, cultivating your character's own status as a sort of God in this destroyed world you seek to save.
An older kid, twelve years old at the time the lore begins and officially seventeen years old at the beginning of this game's actual gameplay (if I'm not mistaken) and three younger kids he has taken under his wing; are the only survivors of a mass exodus from the last known refuge of humanity.
(+) The game has very strong LSD vibes to it, if you like excessively artistic visuals and ambient atmosphere, the cutscenes in this game were a real treat for me.
