The customisation is also very surprising as mentionned above, you can cusomize your spliced units but you can also unlock abilities for your generic units and you can even lower the cost to build units which is pretty insane when you think about it.

As for the difficulty, it really depends on your own choices which again is a great idea in terms of level, unit and even game design as you could play the campaign on the easiest settings while using extremely powerful spliced units and basically play on autopilot with your brain turned off.
