Bubsy 4D

The little gimmicks they introduce, as well as the ramping skill checks, do make each new level feel fresh when you get to them and the actual gameplay, I feel, is well paced when you're not rushing them.

The story... is pretty good actually, let's be frank, I don't think many of us picked up this game because we were eager to see what bubsy and his crew were up to, but nonetheless they all are pretty fun to watch and interact with each other,

It's made competently, has a lot of love pouring out of every orifice, the soundtrack is solid, the voice-acting is cheesy but it fits the tone of the game, the writing can be a bit mean-spirited towards Bubsy at times but it all makes sense.

The visuals and art style of the game are superb, a perfect example that you don't need fidelity to look amazing; by extension the levels all are gorgeous and imaginative, even though there's only 3 planets, they all shake things up to make each scenario feel different.

Plays very similar to Super Mario Odyssey and A Hat In Time, so the skill ceiling can be pretty high if you allow it.

It's kinda finicky, but a huge upgrade which allows me to see what the designers were actually going for, unbogged down by the limitations of the earliest PlayStation controller.
