The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The story is a great fit for a young-adult detective adventure (although I am not sure I love how the final sequence wraps everything up).
oh this slayed. this slayed hard. very rewarding game and wasn’t too hard for my small little brain i felt so smart figuring stuff out i felt like nancy drew herself. i would say this is my favourite nancy dre game bait waverley academy is too good and shadow ranch is too iconic and deception island is a masterclass in game design.
Despite the technical limitations (no ability to skip dialogue lines or cutscenes, well-made but old graphics, being unable to look up your items/notes and solve puzzles at the same time here and there), it's a game I will likely play again.
Like the other ND games, most of the gameplay involves progression puzzles with some vague idea of how to solve them.
The train makes for a great location (which is good, since you'll spend almost all of your time on it), and it has a solid atmosphere, helped by the soundtrack.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No themes split opinion in this sample.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
