What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
-Story: A very rich lore (even disregarding the source of inspiration) with a very dry, very poor narrative.
I liked the rhythm of the gameplay loop, testing out the humor wheel, checking the magnifying glass and the stethoscope for things that could negatively affect my sanity, and the addition of the lurker did add to the challenge, even if it didn't make sense and its introduction was random and sloppy.
The art style and general vibe are done with love and it obviously shows.
The art is gorgeous, the music is lovely, and the sound effects are especially satisfying.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
