You can play the full tutorial campaign (4 missions) and the first mission of each DLC campaign (14 more) as a try-before-you-buy thing.
This is fun and adds replayability as well as adds a sense of progression that comes naturally instead of "you've completed mission 3 so now you have paratroopers."
I turned down the graphics settings so my fan isn't running full speed and the actual play is quite fun.
As far as pricing, each of the DLC packs has around 10-15 scenarios as part of its campaign and each map can take 1-3 hours(or more) for a first playthrough, so for the sale price of $6 for a DLC that has may 20-40 hours worth of gameplay is a pretty good deal.
Bought this to play multiplayer against a friend playing turns at our leisure.
