Black Ice

I check out this game every couple of months or so, and it's always seemed like it is progressing nicely around a real solid gameplay core.

Things are color coded so you can figure out what you're looking at (or what is trying to de-rezz you), and this is extremely welcome since the combat is both frantic AND strategic.

I will admit that the player's interaction with the story mostly involves hacking systems and battling with the ICE they send after you, but the messages that add background to the game are very well written and make it all feel like it has some meaning.

The graphics are minimalistic and give the game an aesthetic that works very well for the setting.

Multiplayer is fun (Oops, we all hacked a building at the same time).

Black Ice comes highly recommended to anyone who's a fan of Shooters, Co-op, craploads of meaningful loot, or retro and cyberpunk aesthetics in general.
