What players think
The recurring themes across 85 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The art is great (gives me Cowboy Bebop vibes, can't quite put my finger on why), the music is great, the story (surprised me that there was any!)
is basic but touching, the gameplay is somewhat innovative (mixing Necrodancer-style rhythm-combat mechanics with Vampire Survivors-like top-down bullet-heaven combat) and is pretty fun, although it gets a little bit repetitive by the end.
Visually, Kill The Music bursts with vibrant energy, using bold colors, dynamic lighting, and a slick hand-drawn art style that gives it the look of a living comic book.
The map doesn't change, the soundtrack (while it sounds great) has far too few songs for this type of game, higher difficulties hardly change the gameplay, it's all so lacking in variety.
The game has full controller support and nice accessibility options for modulating difficulty, not to mention the ability to pick your difficulty less directly within runs as well.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
