This is a fantastic game with a charming, throught provoking world, characters that feel human, gorgeous art and an amazing soundtrack.
I don't think calling R99 a gacha game does it justice; its story is in contention with not just other gachas but with other video games and media in general for how good it is and the gameplay is fun and just hovering on that perfect line where if you want to get really into it, you can, but if you don't want to you can progress through the story without much difficulty either.
As teams grow more complex and character synergies deepen, the tactical layer becomes increasingly satisfying, particularly for those who enjoy methodical gameplay.

i’m in love with the visuals. the artistic direction is incredible, and you can tell the developers put so much creativity into everything. (even the soundtracks!!!
There’s a puzzle solving mode, a rogue-like mode where your inventory management is like a puzzle to help you gain different buffs and effects, Limbo (like abyss, but much more forgiving), a customizable wilderness where you can place your characters, and one of my favorites: Critter Clash (which returns very soon!).
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 4 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
