The Long Dark

The gameplay is surprisingly similar as well, you spend early-game suffering the most as your skills and loot are all at the lowest point, but progressively as you accumulate gear and skills the game becomes easier and easier until you fully transition from surviving to thriving and then spend most of "late-game" base-building and collecting rare items.

Even on the hardest difficulty, you just have a ton of loot, food, water, and so on.

That sense of realism makes every victory, lighting a fire in the middle of a blizzard, or finding a cache of food in an abandoned cabin, feel monumental.

You still feel exactly what you are supposed to feel, the colours aren't garish, the music is absolutely beautiful (recommend the soundtrack for Wintermute, also), the sounds are really good.
