So if you like the idea of a somber rogue-like RPG and don't mind a (purposefully) messy plot, I strongly encourage you to play it.
This game is well-written (for the most part), has an entertaining game loop (again, for the most part), and has characters that resonate well with adolescence and people experiencing it (speaking from experience).
The art style is just absolutely incredible, and this is definitely my go-to pick for this year's innovative gameplay and outstanding art style.
I absolutely love the soundtrack, the trippy, earthbound rpg-like backgrounds, and the replayability and charming yet unsettling characters.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
