The mechanics of charging it up, targeting enemies, or curving it mid-air to hit hard-to-reach targets are surprisingly satisfying and help separate Dark Sector from being just another cover-based shooter.
However, the game remains stable, and the 2008-era visuals still carry a certain stylized charm, especially in darkly lit scenes where lighting and particle effects play a more significant role.
The atmosphere, soundtrack, and story kept me engaged from beginning to end.
Ran without issue at 1080p 60fps capped on Linux, only had to use the simple config file fix for proper widescreen. 1440p gave misaligned shadows so probably stick to 1080p or lower.
