Autor should focus on art style and lovability of the characters, diversifying the gameplay styles and adding more linear handcrafted moments in between generic combat rumble, trough better map design and maybe metroidvania progression.

It has an "adventure" mode with a light story (datapads and text entries to find, and a structured progression) and a rougelite mode that I've yet to try, and a nice soundtrack.
