A first game from the wife-and-husband team behind Nessie Games, Checkout: Cashier Simulator has so much going for it if you like light simulators and/or tiny games: very charming art style; well-written, funny—if a bit sparse—dialogue/environment descriptions; a frankly addictive gameplay loop, and a clear and present love for its audience.
It’s a fun little ~10 or so hour experience I could see fitting right at home on the original Nintendo DS, and playing it on the Steam Deck only further underscored that feeling.
