The game is not scary, there's barely a story, and the ending doesn't really relate or make sense to the little bits of story you're given.
There's more to it here, it's well optimized and there's some really nice graphics in 24th April (Unfortunately, somewhat contradicted by the VHS-effect).
Constant change of atmosphere, sound-qeues acting as "hints", just in general brilliant sound effects.
