There's a pretty big learning curve to make your own content, but if you're using pre-made adventures or just being a player it's great (It's also great as someone doing homebrew, but a LOT more complicated!
First of all, this is what DND probably should have been, combat is wild, even at level 1.
The program also allows for a lot of customization, there are inbuilt tools so you can make things that they haven't implemented yet, or completely custom stuff.
