What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The story itself is also interesting to try and piece together using notes and diary entries found throughout the game.
The graphics are quite nice, nothing special but it looks cute.
The gameplay is quite basic – side scrolling adventure game where you go to place and meet ghosts.
Whispering Willows relies a lot less on jumpscares than a lot of horror games, focusing instead of creating an unsettling feeling through ghostly visuals and a good soundtrack.
The game works perfectly fine with the Xbox 360 Gamepad I used, including on menus (which is what FULL controller support means), so this is definitely a Big Picture game you can use from the couch.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
