You Have to Win the Game

Clearly (and statedly) inspired by VVVVVV, it has a really similar feeling of exploration; it's a miniature Metroidvania, but packed to the brim of its own short size with fun.

The graphics are similarly simple, but are a clearly polished craft; if you enjoyed the darker aesthetics of Undertale and the texturing in Celeste or Terraria (or any of the retro games to inspire all these), these looks should feel reminiscent.

The difficulty is just right — not too low to get boring, not too high to get repugnant.

The PC speaker style sound effects, staggered hex-aligned pixels with faint scanlines, and bowing of the screen to a curved glass surface really drive home that this game is an artifact from a cultural time capsule, and the simulated monitor bezel around it completes the effect nicely.
