I know it's just a minor point for many people, but personally for me half the enjoyment of playing a space-set strategy game comes from the visuals of it all; the battles, the solar systems, the planets and the general galactic landscape are an important part for me because it adds to the feelings of a 'living' galaxy, with multiple features and unknowns to discover.

I like how you use interplanetary trade to 'upgrade' planets into production hubs. the combat is awesome you can zoom out and watch the beam weapons light up and you can zoom in and see the carnage close up and watch ships blow up in huge explosions.
