It brings some genuinely new mechanics to the table, and I’ve put in around 50 hours, reaching Ascension 9 with all four characters, so I’ve spent enough time with it to give a grounded opinion.

The tweaks it makes to the combat rules standard in the genre are very clever, and it has linear, per-character iterative difficulty (a la StS ascensions) as opposed to the customizable modifiers that have become common in many similar games (but which I personally hate).
