What players think
The recurring themes across 272 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
I love the art style, the monochromatic hand drawn style gives a sense of mystery to the game.
Mechanics: extremely simple mechanic of "layering images over each other and converting the result into a password" executed really well. simple mechanics help builds trust in the player and allows for non-frustrating gameplay. one of the common issues of puzzle games is that the player can be unsure if they have the necessary information/knowledge to clear a level. but every puzzle in her trees has a consistent format: all the information is fully available and the answer format is always the same, so the player always has the promise of a possible solution which leads to them persevering more.
The sound design is soothing and satisfying, and you can pet the kitty.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
