There is a lot of dialogue, so the social upgrades find equal relevance in the game, and at some points, even allow you to avoid some difficult battles or at least give you another advantage once the battle begins.

There often are multiple ways of reaching a certain objective, while exploration is never barred by quests: you can access any location from the start provided you have the correct abilities.

And speaking of the dialogue, while it’s mostly well-written and manages to imbue the people in this game with character, the voice-acting is a mixed bag at best.

The 2D retro-style graphics work very well, coupled with descent voice acting and an awesome soundtrack (which is worth purchasing by itself).

Dex delivers on this by giving you a number of different ways to build your character in order to break the difficulty curve.
