What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Riding a horse through prairies and mountains gives a real sense of freedom, and story missions, treasure hunting, or random events can keep you playing for many hours.
It’s a strong addition that gives many hours of gameplay and shows how creative the Wild West story can be.
The controls are clunky and sometimes unresponsive, the graphics are more cartoonish and feel like a blend between GTA: San Andreas and IV, and you don't have much stuff to do in the free play (can't get a haircut, can't get a beard trim since your beard doesn't grow, can't change clothes (there are outfits though), and can't have a drink/something to eat, despite most of this being in older games), and perhaps it's the way it is purely due to the story events happening.
We also have some great ambience music and voice-acting: those "wild" guitar riffs still play in my head from time to time, making me question the entirety of my life decisions, and regarding the voice acting... yeah, everything is authentic, the emotions are there, and for a game of 2010, this "everything" sounds very solid.
It also runs quite well on the steam deck.
Playing with a controller, the aim assist felt so nice!
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
