Then there's the other part... where you move around a large overworld map, or just run around between different areas, talk to people (with unskippable dialogue, mind you - best you can do is fast forward and it's STILL very slow), and just waste a lot of time waiting to get back in the action.
Overall, the primary gameplay loop is good.
Lush painted backdrops flow in parallax over pixel sprites, bold colors and soft lighting drawing out small details in surreal landscapes.
The art style and soundtrack are absolutely wonderful.
The difficulty ramps up steadily, but it remains fair, especially with the inclusion of accessibility options that allow players to adjust challenge levels or bypass particularly demanding sequences without breaking narrative continuity.
