What players think
The recurring themes across 291 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
It's certainly worth it at a sub-$10 price point, and I had fun chasing the find-all-the-things achievement and the multiple ending paths.
It's a worthy remake, and definitely takes the gameplay concept in some new and interesting directions.
Its dieselpunk aesthetic — portrayed through rugged machinery, metallic textures, and the eerie quiet of underground caverns — helps create a distinct mood.
The controls are great(I used a controller), it has a lot of cool items to buy from the shop, a very large amount of upgrades, modifiers and perks that you research progress for by finding parts while mining that you can equip and un-equip which makes for many different possible strategical approaches.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
