Even at the start of early access, there are already numerous heroes, characters, spells and items that enable many different builds and strategies.
It's very nearly a 1:1 successor, but with some additional QoL/replayability features (such as the asynchronous mode made popular by games like Super Auto Pets)
If rounds take way too long, so much waiting time, unbalanced heroes, scouting enemies doesn ́t do much for predictability, there is no fun experimenting after getting a basic grasp of the game etc etc., why would I grind hundreds of hours just to even be on the same level of "pick the hero you actually want to play", hence that part becomes more of a mobile cashgrab because everything else is a senseless timesink.
Two people in the lobby had the +4 mana treasure, I had the +1...
