What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
And it just so happens to have one of the greatest combat systems of any game, ever.
One of the biggest surprises, though, is how good its story is.
Funnily enough, it shares quite a bit in common with Pragmata, incorporating some surprising Metroidvania-lite elements alongside its action RPG progression.
Comparatively, Way of the Sword delivers a much more compelling story, anchored by excellent visuals, impressive facial animation, and superb voice acting (at least with the Japanese voice track I played with).
I was constantly impressed by the environment, sound design, animations, and especially the facial mocapping.
In terms of pre-launch performance, Way of the Sword is incredibly well optimized.
