What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Games that make you replay the entire game once just to get the full story already feel like they are pushing it (of note: playing for different endings is different in my mind, so don’t get that mixed up), but 6 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times???
Cauldron’s gameplay is extremely repetitive to the point where your goal every run is to automate everything as fast as possible so you don’t have to play the game anymore.
The gameplay can be fun even if it is a bit hollow due to its idle game nature, the game has a lot of replayability even if it is just a time sink, the story was unappealing to me and should have been done in a single playthrough so that it didn’t feel so fragmented by the time I came to the finale, the music is pretty darn great, and the art style is very appealing.
They just add a bit of difficulty and kind of just force you to play in a specific way, which feels more annoying than innovative.
Great on Steam Deck and PC
The soundtrack complements this tone with light, melodic tracks that reinforce the game’s cozy yet compulsive atmosphere, perfectly suited for long play sessions where “just one more upgrade” becomes the prevailing mindset.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
