Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive

The problem is I know I would not have enjoyed it at all if I hadn't played shadow tactics first, as shadow tactics did a great job of preparing me for the tit-for tat 30 minutes of quickloads to kill 1 guard style gameplay this game has.

Instead of the rather disconnected levels of Commandos, each and every one of the levels in Desperados is tied closely its narrative, introducing characters and their unique abilities, story points and quite a few plot twists in a way that feels both natural & logical.

The art style of the maps is still a standout after all these years—still beautiful to look at and very varied.

The developers clearly designed the game for thinkers rather than reflex-driven players, and its unforgiving nature only amplifies the satisfaction of success.

The soundtrack, with the harmonica in the background, makes time fly by.

The tutorials given for each character are good, and help to acclimatise yourself to each playable character in the missions you engage in, with the story having that nice touch of a classic Wild West film's plot.
