What players think
The recurring themes across 128 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Soundtrack and graphics are smooth but I cannot help but feel more frustration than enjoyment cuz either the weapons are too weak or the enemies are too resilient to shots (bar the Bosses, they're supposed to have strong endurance).
Legacy Mode preserves the original visual style and soundtrack, capturing the exact feel of the classic release with crisp responsiveness that honors its roots.
Great graphics and soundtrack, fun gameplay, definitely a challenge.
Runs flawlessly on Steam Deck.
Rather than reimagining its identity or layering on unnecessary modern systems, this release focuses on preservation, polish, and accessibility, delivering the original campaign in a form that feels both authentic and refreshed.
There are a few things that Legacy mode gets wrong, but otherwise beyond those points put in below (until they get fixed), if you want to play the absolute classic that is Demonstar while also indirectly sharing it with your friends (and even using Steam Play Together to play multiplayer until netcode gets readded), buying it here is a fantastic option.
