Yars Rising

This combined with the music and quite frankly awesome sound design (your weapons, skills, the voice work, footsteps) all just add up to make this feel like a very well polished video game that brings back memories of the bold visuals and punchy sound effects of the old arcade machines i saw as a kid.

Yars Rising, developed by WayForward and published by Atari, is a stylish sci-fi metroidvania that reimagines one of Atari’s oldest arcade franchises as a modern action-platforming adventure filled with exploration, hacking systems, stealth mechanics, and retro-inspired storytelling.

I ended up 100%ing on my first playthrough because of the game's compactness making it just a satisfying task to do alongside the story.

I'm not at all an anime person and have never seen the appeal so this game was already something i wasn't sure about yet i've really fallen in love with the vibrant and bold visuals that this game uses to present itsself, from the character and environment design to the overall UI design.

As Emi gains additional hacking tools, movement upgrades, and combat abilities, exploration becomes increasingly rewarding because players are encouraged to revisit older locations in search of hidden upgrades and secrets.

While I love the character design (particularly for the main character, who is wonderfully animated), much of the humor and acting leans more towards cringe.
