Gunboat god certainly reminds me of other games I've played, mainly LUFTRAUSERS and PATAPON with its gameplay and art style respectively but I feel the sentiment of "despite that its like nothing I've played before" is really a testament to the confidence in this games execution and intentionality in all aspects of its design, because this game is stellar at both of those things across the board, its truly inspired work here.

The visuals are gorgeous, I personally am a sucker for solid black characters and so this was beyond up my alley, but when paired with those gorgeous coloured backgrounds and the usage of white to highlight not only submerged characters, to bosses, but even small things like anchoring the gunboat visually, despite the chaos the game brings, by outlining the gun in white at all times with a little symbol at its centre, paired with those striking red bullets it ensures that you're never lost in the chaos.
- Works nicely on Steam Deck
A lot of detail went in the animations and effects, the sound effects are fun and satisfying, and I like that the background was given intentionally vibrant designs to contrast the abundance of black and white elements.

Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
